Exhausting weekend - two full days of baking, flower modelling and general cooking!
My Brother-in-Law and his twin's 75th Birthday party (that makes it 150th, doesn't it??) and I was tasked to produce the birthday cake ... No pressure then! A red velvet cake with cream cheese frosting and hand made sugar anemones and blossom. So this is what I produced ....
It suited the afternoon tea garden party so well and the loan of the most beautiful china cake stand to set it off perfectly.
This was a huge leaning curve for me as I normally do cupcakes, and there is plenty I would do differently next time (indeed things I knew I should have done ... but didn't!). Using a new cake recipe, which is always a bit of a gamble which was brilliant and will be the new standard for me and some experience in using edible glue. All good stuff.
I actually had the opportunity to taste the thing. And, if I do say so myself, it was ace!
I would like a little bit of a rest now ... before the next one.
